Loris Capirossi: "Chester will be special for Marco Simoncelli and my farewell"

The Italian rider Loris Capirossi (Ducati), who sees off the competition this weekend after 22 seasons in the World Championship, said that the Grand Prix of Valencia will be "special" by the absence of his compatriot Marco Simoncelli and his own farewell.

"Marco will be happy to see that racing continue . He was a friend of mine and I think he was doing what he loved most. It's been a tough week for everyone and Cheste will be a tough race, "stated Capirossi on a tribute ceremony held in Valencia.

For the Italian "this is life, motorcycling and so the World will continue", whilst acknowledging that all drivers will "in his heart" Marco Simoncelli.

The Grand Prix of Valencia Capirossi will be for the latest in a long career of 22 seasons, in which a three-time world champion and has played 327 races since his debut in 1990.

"The problem is that for next year had the option to compete with a CRT (Claiming Rules Team, motorcycles equipped with engines derived from the series and special chassis manufactured specifically) or World Superbike, so I preferred go, "remarked the Italian.

The Ducati rider accumulates 99 podium finishes throughout his career, the last being in 2008, but is aware that achieving the number 100 "will be very difficult" because "would have to stop every driver to make it."
