Drew Brees completed 31 of his 35 passes for 325 yards and finished with five touchdowns, and New Orleans Saints on Sunday introduced a franchise record in points scored and points difference in a crushing 62-7 victory over a hapless Colts of Indianapolis. For the first time, Sean Payton followed the game from the coaches booth, where he could sit comfortably without having to support his left leg broken. From there he ordered the plays and certainly enjoyed what he saw from that vantage point.
Brees hit two touchdown passes to Marques Colston and one with Darren Sproles only in the first quarter. His fourth and fifth touchdown passes were thrown into the second year tight end Jimmy Graham in the third quarter. It seemed that the Saints could do whatever they wanted to record 236 rushing yards.
