FIFA wants to offer cheap tickets for the poor in the 2014 World Cup

The FIFA aims to offer cheap tickets for poor Brazilians in the 2014 World Cup, following the model of South Africa 2010, said the secretary general of the agency, Jérôme Valcke, in an interview published by the newspaper Folha de São Paulo.

"We have to work on an entry in category 4 (...) to give access to all Brazilians who can not afford much , "said the head of FIFA.

Valcke said the president of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, asked a federal law to respect the country that gives retirees 50% discount on tickets to football matches as well as in cinemas, theaters, museums and other cultural events.

"When President Rousseff told me there is a law to protect those over 65 years with 'half-inning,' I said, do not want to change that law , "he said.

However, Valcke avoided using the same terms to refer to students who also have the right to pay half the price of tickets for football matches in almost all of Brazil, in this case due to regional laws.

"We want to be sure that we are not facing a number of communities with access to the half inning , "said Valcke, for whom it is" fairer "Brazilians favor lower spending.

Commitment

On his meeting with Rousseff, held in Brussels three weeks ago, Valcke said he was "successful" and that both sides were flexible to the demands of another.

Valcke said, however, that "the main concern" of FIFA is to check the "level of commitment" Rousseff Government with the agreements had been reached with his predecessor, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

"Since 2007 we are negotiating to finalize a document . In April 2011 we reached an agreement and then there amendments, "he said.

In relation to the works of the stadiums, reiterated that "the timetable is tight" and that "there is definitely a concern" with the preparation of the Confederations Cup 2013, the occasion that led FIFA to appoint only four venues for the Tournament: Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Fortaleza and Rio de Janeiro.

"Some stages are given a little late, but before the first World Cup match. One of the biggest challenges is the Maracana (Rio de Janeiro, home to the end) because there is a high level of work," he said in the interview Sao Paulo newspaper.
