The Colombia-Coldeportes professional team, led by Claudio Corti, manager and victorious Italian team management as Saeco and Barloworld, confirmed the signing of Fabio Duarte. Thus, the cyclist, 25, who this year has run in the Geox-TMC in 2012 wear the colors of Coldeportes-Colombia.
Former world champion sub-23 (won his title in Varese, Italy in 2008) is the reference point of a team that offers interesting innovations among young Colombian climbers.
This season has been the best for Duarte, despite the fall he suffered in the Giro d'Italia which took two months of inactivity due to a knee problem. After recovering, the Colombian won the third stage of the Giro del Trentino in Fai della Paganella and was second in the fifth stage of Giro d'Italia race between Piombino and Orvieto. He was also second in the Grand Prix of Lugano and joined the best team in the last Tour of Spain, where his partner won Juanjo Cobo.
The complete and final list of team members will get to know little by little. According to Claudio Corti, "Duarte's arrival represents an important step and I am excited to see how the broker has understood and believed in our project preferring the offer we made on others that we were very important."
