Ian Thorpe: "Do not expect much from me"

The five-time Olympic champion Ian Thorpe on Wednesday warned Australians not to expect much from him so soon, now that he is preparing his return to racing next week in Singapore.

The Australian swimmer is on the road to recovery since February to prepare ahead of London Olympic Games next summer, after being removed from the pools during the past four years.

Thorpe will swim the 100 butterfly and 100 styles this weekend, but warned their fans should not be disappointed if the 'Torpedo' , capable of spraying several world records, not back out immediately.

"I'm just saying do not expect much from me now and I do not judge too quickly." "I always said that my first intention is to make my return was better than when I reached the zenith of my career," he added.

The Australian has lost 10 kilos since his return to training and just completed two weeks of altitude training in Switzerland. "I just returned from a training hard, but I feel good, I'm slowly reborn and am about to compete again."

Its main objective is to get in shape to London in 2012. "I'm here to swim and not to give up. London is my ultimate goal and win or lose here in Singapore, does not change the long-term plans," he said. "I'm nervous because I do not know what to expect."
