Ferrer is now in eighth

David Ferrer has become the first Spanish access to the second round of the tournament in Paris-Bercy Masters 1000 final of the season, defeating Frenchman Nicolas Mahut in less than half an hour.

Few problems found the Levante player to achieve victory in his debut in a tournament in which he appears with the sign of the fourth favorite and it goes in a good form.

Ferrer will be measured for a spot in the quarterfinals against the winner between the Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov , seeded No. 14, and German Philipp Kohlschreiber , which takes place within hours.

The Spanish player was solid in his debut in Paris to become the fifth player to reach the knockout.

Mahut barely created problems, despite the support of the small audience that gathered on the steps of omnisport Paris in the morning session.
