Cameroon players go on strike

Players of the Cameroon team have been on strike claiming unpaid and refusing to play an international friendly match against Algeria on Tuesday, so that the meeting had to be suspended.

A statement made by players from Cameroon confirmed that the players have not received the money promised for participating in a tournament held in Morocco last weekend, where they played against Sudan on Friday and Sunday against the hosts.

"We decided not to travel to Algeria and to alert the authorities of Cameroon to respect the agreement," said the statement signed by the players and posted on the website of the Cameroon Federation.

For its part, the Algerian Football Federation made a brief statement on the matter. "This situation is the result of an internal administrative problem in the Cameroonian national team," merely to comment.
