Mixed fortunes for Nadal and Djokovic in the doubles at Indian Wells


The two best players in the world, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic began his career in the doubles at Indian Wells with mixed fortunes, and while the Spanish victory was released with the help of Marc Lopez defeated Serbian Victor Troicki dropped.

Nadal and Lopez were imposed on France's Michael Llodra and Nenad Zimonjic of a double 6-4 in one hour and 14 minutes. Their next opponents will the clash between the Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov and Belgian Xavier Malisse against the French Nicolas Mahut and Gilles Simon.

Single Table Nadal at last met his first opponent in the tournament, the Argentine Leonardo Mayer, now overcame the Colombian Alejandro Falla 2-6, 7-6 (7), 6-4 in two hours and 50 minutes.

Meanwhile the Spanish Marcel Granollers and Feliciano Lopez eliminated at the first change to Djokovic and Troicki for a double 7-5 in one hour and 31 minute match.

Djokovic, world number one debut in individual table in front of the Kazakh Andrey Golubev, a player before he has faced only once, just last year at Indian Wells, with victory for the Serbian 6-0, 6 -4.

Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci also won the Czech Lukas Rosol 6-2, 7-6 (4) in one hour and 19 minutes and will play in the next round to Austrian Jurgen Melzer.

For his part, Argentine David Nalbandian beat Italian Potito Starace 7-6 (4) and 6-0 (one hour and 25 minutes) and will now face Croatia's Marin Cilic, while his compatriot Carlos Berlocq got rid of Frenchman Benoit Faire 6-4, 6-2 (one hour and 38 minutes) and will play against the Canadian Milos Raonic.

In the women's Spanish Anabel Medina lay India's Sania Mirza 6-2, 7-5 in one hour and 25 minutes, while Carla Suarez lost to Italy's Flavia Penetta 6-3, 6-4 in one hour and 24 minutes.

Medina will face in the next stage with Germany's Julia Goerges.
