Kvitova, best player of the year

The Czech player Petra Kvitova has been named winner of the award for Best Player of the Year, awarded by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), an association has also awarded the couple formed by Peschke and Srebotnik for Best Double the Year.

The Czech, 21, receives the first time in his career this distinction, having been a great season, winning his first Grand Slam at Wimbledon, and having concluded the year with a notable share of the WTA Championships in Istanbul. In fact, throughout this course, Kvitova has passed the number 34 to number 2 world ranking.

Furthermore, under the flag of the Czech Republic, Kvitova chained 12 games without defeat, to lead his country to win for the first time in history, a Fed Cup. "This season has been just a dream," acknowledged Czech.

"It's an incredible honor to win the award for Best Player of the Year, and be in the same ranking that some of the best players that have played this sport, especially Martina Navratilova" Czech continued.

Kvitova so in the list of Player of the Year, players from the likes of Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova, Serena Williams, Justine Henin, Maria Sharapova, Venus Williams, Lindsay Davenport, Martina Hingis and Kim Clijsters.

Meanwhile, another Czech, Kveta Peschke, near the Slovenian Katarina Srebotnik, will be awarded the prize for Best Stunts of the Year, having joined the first Wimbledon for both, and prevail in six WTA tournaments.
