Persepolis defender Mohammad Nosrati, grabbed the back of his teammate Sheys Rezaei in the celebration of a goal for his team in Saturday's league match against Damash Gilan. The crash was broadcast on state television.
Although both insisted that was a joke, the Iran Football Federation (FFI) suspended them both for "immorality." Persepolis wages were reduced by 15 percent, although Nosrati said under oath that the incident was accidental and unintentional.
Judge Hosseini told Fars Valiollah today that the case should be considered a "crime." "An immoral act well in public is punishable by prison sentences of ten to 60 days and 74 lashes," said the magistrate.
In addition, the Iranian Parliament wants to take the case further and plans to summon the Minister of Sports. Nosrati, 30, has been capped by Iran for 11 years and his goal brought the country to the World Cup Germany 2006.
The manager of Persepolis, Ali Parvin, a former captain international reacted furiously to what he calls "amplification" of the incident. "The kid (Nosrati) took us to a World Cup and we are all proud, and now the Knights (leaders) want to suspend him and Rezaei for the rest of their lives," Parvin said to Fars.
"Why not hang them so they will be happy?" Said Parvin. Islamic ethics is one of the most important social rules in Iran, where the issue is a scandal because, above all, the game was televised nationwide.
The IFF has spent years trying to implement in the game called "social values", but nevertheless, still chanting offensive and disputes over decisions of the arbitrators. Because of this assumption vulgar environment, Iran has forbidden women to attend soccer despite the great love that exists between the female audience.
